On Monday 21st August 2017 Vintage Volunteering merged with Friend in Need (FIN) of East Barnet (FIN website ).This is the result of the fact that Vintage Volunteering had been struggling to attract sufficient volunteers to organise and manage our projects, due to the time commitment required. The Aims and Objectives of both organisations are similar and the founding documents of both organisations give the respective management committees the authority to pursue such mergers. We have removed Vintage Volunteering from the Charity Commission charities register and so, sadly, are no more a separate charity.
This website will remain for a while to show the sort of activities that we did and we are hopeful that most of them will continue as before under FIN.
Vintage Volunteering (VV) was a registered charity entirely made up of volunteers of the ‘vintage’ variety (age 50+) based in and around Barnet, North London. Our members had built up skills, experience and knowledge through their life and offered them back to the community via a wide range of projects. We enabled people to volunteer when, where and how it best suited them. Because of our project diversity, volunteer roles ranged from weekly befriending telephone calls or visits to a nearby primary school to pitching in once or twice a year to help with a party for our retirement and nursing home residents.
We were guided by the belief that volunteering can and should be equally for the benefit of the volunteer and the ‘client’. For this reason, we welcomed volunteers who had an ‘idea’ of a project they would like to put into action.
And we offered a ‘family’ of like-minded volunteers, all with their own stories to tell, who met regularly to celebrate the work we do and the people we are.
Our Events Page details some of the things that we did.
