Our Spring Tea Party was held for the fourth year running at Totteridge Village Hall on Thursday 20th April and we entertained almost 40 guests with the assistance of our wonderful volunteers who washed up, drove, danced and generally made the party the success we all hoped for. Four games of Bingo were played with the Full House having the choice of Chocolates, a plant or a choice of the very lavish raffle prizes.
All raffle prizes were given and the proceeds of the raffle were donated to The Marie Curie Fund. £151 was raised and this has been sent to Marie Curie. Our grateful thanks to all who supported this good cause.
Whatever else is planned tea time never comes round fast enough. Adriennne and her kitchen helpers produced plates of sandwiches (kindly donated by Goodwin Court), cake, tea, coffee. fruit, etc. which all disappeared very quickly.
Thank you to each and every one for being there and it is hoped that it was enjoyed by you all.
It’s cold outside but you couldn’t feel it in the warmth of good cheer of the Christmas Carol evening at Hyde Court this week. A choir from East Barnet Baptist Church sang a selection of Christmas carols accompanied by piano and guitar, as well as the enthusiastic singing of the residents. Afterwards everyone chatted and dined from a lovely buffet provided by Vintage Volunteering and a resident, Peter Boag. It was a great start to the Christmas season, and a wonderful end to 2016.
Bonfire Night was combined with Halloween at Hyde Court for a Sparkles Evening. Residents were encouraged to wear something sparkly, sparkling sing-a-long music was provided along with a buffet of supper items. The evening was capped with indoor sparklers to begin the festive season. Thank you to Margaret and June for organising this fun event.
On November 4, we hosted a Diwali party at Goodwin Court which is one of the favourite annual events of both volunteers and residents. Many of the residents dressed in saris and the afternoon included dancing, bingo and a lovely special tea.
Volunteers dressed for the occassion
We find that our residents are keen to help others and always enjoy our annual fundraiser for Macmillan Nurses at Goodwin Court. We play bingo, have a raffle and guess the weight of the cake… all to raise money for a very good cause. Of course we have a good time while doing it!
Which prize shall I have?
